Welcome to Yahoo Internet Life, for Macintosh Users
(updated 1/3/96)
1. What do you need to run Yahoo Internet Life:
• Macintosh LC III or better (Most of the Performas will suffice);
The Welcome Application is a 'Fat' Binary application, which will
run native on PowerPC Macs.
• Color Monitor capable of supporting 256 colors at 640 by 480 pixels (14 inch)
• At least 4 MB of RAM.
• About 5 MB of hard drive space for the Internet Valet Components
• 9600 baud modem or faster (14.4 is good, 28.8 is better).
• CD-ROM Drive (of course, you have one of these, or you wouldn't be reading this!)
- At least Double-Speed is best, but single speed is adequate for all but the
QuickTime movies.
2. Tips for Installing:
We suggest that you install Internet Valet first. Then install QuickTime 2.1 (and the QuickTime PowerPlug, if you are on a PowerMac), and Sound Manager 3.1, by dragging them on top of your System Folder (your Mac will ask you and then will place them in your Extensions folder) and then restarting your Mac. Then, when you run the Welcome Application (the cool blue box icon), the dive in picture will launch your newly installed copy of Enhanced Mosaic and the QuickTime movies will play.
3. About Documentation for Internet Valet
The documentation for Internet Valet is in Adobe Acrobat format. To read it, please install the Adobe Acrobat reader software, also included on this CD. The documentation includes a Quick Tour of the parts of Internet Valet and a Reference document.
4. What gets installed and where ?
The Internet Valet installer installs the following files into your extensions folder in your system folder: PPP and MP Telnet Tool. It installs MacTCP and Internet Valet PPP into your Control Panels folder.
The Internet Valet folder contains all of the components for Internet Valet, including Eudora (for e-mail), Newswatcher (for news), Fetch (for FTP), TurboGopher (for Gopher), Microphone LT (for Telnet), Enhanced Mosaic (for the Web), and a handy palette for launching all of them.
